Plumbing Tee
Introduction
PLUMBING TEE:
A plumbing tee is a fitting shaped like the letter T. It connects three pipes together. Because of this shape, a tee divides the flow of fluid with one inlet and two outlets. As a result, plumbers use it widely in water supply and plumbing systems.

PVC T Joint (Plain):
Plain tees use PVC solvent cement to create a pipes joint on all three sides. One side works as the inlet, and the other two work as outlets. In this way, the tee simply divides the flow into two branches. Moreover, a PVC Reducing Tee connects a pipe of higher size with one of smaller size.
PVC BRASS T Joint:
A brass tee has inner threads of brass and an outer body of PVC. Therefore, it is stronger, more durable and more reliable. Plumbers use these tees to connect bathroom fittings on the brass threaded side.
PVC Threaded T Joint (plastic):
A plastic threaded tee has inner threads of PVC. For this reason, you must tighten it carefully against metallic bathroom fittings.
PVC Tees are available in:
PVC tees come in Schedule 80 in these sizes: ½” (15mm), ¾” (20mm), 1″ (25mm), 1¼” (32mm), 1½” (40mm), 2″ (50mm), 2½” (75mm), 3″ (90mm), 4″ (110mm), 6″ (160mm) and 8″ (200mm). In addition, Schedule 40 tees come in 2½” (75mm), 3″ (90mm) and 4″ (110mm).
STANDARDS FOR PVC TEE
Keep the four standard boxes as they are (ASTM D 1784, D 2466, D 2467, D 2464). They are short titles and the “Pipe Fittings” link sits inside one of them.

FAQs
A plumbing tee is a fitting shaped like the letter T that connects three pipes together. It divides the flow of fluid with one inlet and two outlets, commonly used in water supply and plumbing systems.
A PVC brass tee has inner threads made of brass with an outer PVC body, making it stronger and more durable, and is typically used to connect bathroom fittings on the threaded side. A plastic threaded tee has inner threads made of PVC instead, so extra care is needed when tightening it against metallic bathroom fittings to avoid damage.
A PVC reducing tee is a variant of the plain tee that connects a pipe of a larger size to one of a smaller size. This is useful when a plumbing line needs to branch off into a different pipe diameter.
PVC tees are available in Schedule 80 across ½” (15mm) to 8″ (200mm), including ½”, ¾”, 1″, 1¼”, 1½”, 2″, 2½”, 3″, 4″, 6″ and 8″. In Schedule 40, they’re available in 2½” (75mm), 3″ (90mm) and 4″ (110mm).
PVC tees comply with ASTM D 1784 for rigid PVC and CPVC compounds, ASTM D 2466 for Schedule 40 PVC pipe fittings, ASTM D 2467 for Schedule 80 PVC pipe fittings, and ASTM D 2464 for threaded Schedule 80 PVC pipe fittings.
