CPVC Tee

Introduction

CPVC TEE

Tees are fittings that have structural analogy with the alphabet T and connect three pipes together. Tees have a function of either converging the flow of fluid by having two inlets and one outlet which are generally used in drainage systems. The other function of a Tee is to divide the flow of the fluid by having one inlet and two outlets which is case in water supply systems or plumbing systems.

CPVC is chlorinated polyvinyl chloride plastic which is a high quality, strong plastic that withstands temperature upto 93 Deg C. CPVC T have the following advantages over other thermoplastic tees :

  • Higher temperature tolerance of upto 93 degree celsius, CPVC Ts are compatible with both Hot/cold water lines.
  • CPVC tees are stronger than UPVC tees
  • CPVC tees are proven to be better suited for potable water supply lines.
  • CPVC tees have lower thermal expansion than PVC.
  • CPVC Tee is more resistant to chemicals.
  • A CPVC Tee does not support combustion.

CPVC Tee are of two types:

CPVC TEE (Plain):

Plain Tee have pipes joint on all three sides using CPVC solvent cement. They simply help divide the flow into the two branches with one side being the inlet and other two being outlets.
Tees are also available in reducing type called CPVC Reducing Tee which connect a pipe of higher size with one of smaller size.

CPVC BRASS TEE:

Brass tee have inner threads of brass with outer CPVC making it stronger, durable and reliable. These Tees are used to connect bathroom fittings on the brass threaded side.

CPVC Threaded Tee (plastic):

Plastic threaded tee have inner threads of CPVC as well as such one must be careful while tightening them with metallic bathroom fittings. These kind of Tees are not recommended for use with Hot water.
